New on the wine scene of Istria but with deep roots in the Istrian land.
The Visintin family comes from the surroundings of the Italian town of Gorizia, which is located near the border with Slovenia. The ancestors of the Visintin family decided to move to Lovrečica 185 years ago. On the estate, which then spread over 20 hectares of land, the Visintin family began in 1889 to engage in viticulture and agriculture. The love for the Istrian land has never faded since then. The love that has been passed down from generation to generation and because of which dad Claudio decided 20 years ago to move to a higher level: from production for family needs to perfecting wine products and putting them on the market.
We try to follow trends, use the most modern technologies, educate ourselves and follow the development of winemaking and follow the valuable advice of the excellent enologist Višnja Zečević who follows our work. At the same time, we nurture our roots, family values and passion for our Istrian country. Numerous awards over the last few years have confirmed that we are on the right track. We experience the grape and olive harvest as an ideal time to gather members of our family and friends. It is a time when we are all together and when each of us gives our contribution. Grape harvesting and processing are indispensable rituals, something we all do from an early age and teach our children. Also daughter Nicoletta is involved in all of this and may one day continue the family tradition.
The effort put into caring for the vines and the sleepless stormy nights in which we fear for our plantations are part of our lives. We realize that it all pays off when in September we all pick grapes together and proudly fill barrels in our cellar, knowing that we have done our best and that wine, over time, will show that. We believe in what we do, because everything we do, we do from the heart.
